PRESTON, Lancs. — Edoardo Del Cadia overcame first half foul trouble to continue his hot start to the Elite Academy Basketball League season scoring 26 points in Myerscough’s 102-84 win over SGS College on Wednesday.

Del Cadia, who was coming off a 23-point performance against Loreto last week, hit back-to-back 3-pointers to cap off a 22-point first half and give Myerscough a comfortable lead at the break and it never looked back.

Mate Okros had 15 points and Aaron Martin and Konrad Kantorski added 14 each for Myerscough.

“A win like this goes a long way to showing the calibre that these guys have offensively,” said Myerscough head coach Neal Hopkins. “But they know we need to build ourselves around our defence.”

Myerscough (2-0) came out of the blocks quickly behind Kantorski’s 10 points whilst Del Cadia and Okros combined for 15 to grab a 33-22 lead in a high-scoring opening quarter.

Del Cadia was limited with two early fouls, but gave Myerscough a necessary boost scoring 14 straight points over three minutes to end the first half, which included going 4-of-4 from 3-point range.

Myerscough, meanwhile, was red hot from beyond the arc connecting on 13 13-pointers in the opening half and 18 in the game.

Despite trailing 59-40 at halftime, SGS College rebounded to outscore Myerscough 20-8 over the final five minutes, but the deficit still proved too much to overturn.

A.J. Edu had a game-high 30 points to lead SGS College (0-3) and Ebuka Ekwegh added 19.

NOTES: Del Cadia has averaged 24.5 points in the opening two games of the EABL season … Okros has reached double figures in both league games this season.
