Myerscough add Mike Bernard to coaching staff

We are delighted to announce that British Basketball legend Mike Bernard will be joining the coaching staff at Myerscough College Basketball Academy for the 2015/16 season.

Originally from Greater Manchester Mike made the move to the University of South Florida to play in the NCAA before embarking on an outstanding professional career.

The 6’9 centre who is renown for his dominant inside play and high skill set spent time in Italy, France, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Cyprus before returning home to play for the Manchester Giants over the past few seasons.

Mike, who will be embarking in his first coaching role is looking forward to the journey ahead.

“I feel great (starting my coaching career at Myerscough) I have a lot to learn about the X and O’s of basketball, I know the rest but need to learn that skill which I think Neal Hopkins can really help me with”.

“I hope the guys that I coach really use me and everything I know about the game to make themselves better, hopefully this will help them get as far as they can get. I plan to learn new skills off the court and help the guys improve at the game and get to the next level”.

Myerscough head coach Neal Hopkins commented “I’m really pleased to have Mike join us, his career speaks for itself and I have no doubt that he will add a lot to the students experience whilst here at Myerscough – he is a model professional and someone the guys can really learn from. We are fortunate to have highly motivated and passionate staff within our programme, Mike will certainly add to that”.

Everyone at Myerscough would like to welcome Mike!
