LONDON — Myerscough advanced to the National Shield semifinals with a 78-68 win over the London Thunder on Saturday afternoon.

Myerscough will learn its semifinal opponent following the conclusion of a trio of games to take place on Sunday.

Edvards Sirmbardis led four players in double-figures scoring with 14 points in the win. Tyrell Brown finished with 13, Demi Adenuga had 12 and David Walsh added 10.

“It was a job well done,” said Myerscough coach Neal Hopkins. “The Thunder gave a great account of themselves and pushed us, but it was a controlling performance with contributions from everyone.”

Brown hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give Myerscough (11-1) an 18-8 lead before the Thunder (6-7) responded with a pair of their own threes to cut the early deficit to four.

Myerscough, which used an 18-8 run in the second quarter to break the game open, held a 45-28 halftime advantage.

London came out fighting to cut the Sco lead to just 10, but Mate Okros converted a layup and Adenuga finished off a 3-point play to extend the lead out to 58-43 with less than a minute remaining in the quarter.

A 6-0 run to start the fourth quarter would extinguish any chance of a comeback, despite London closing the final minute with a 12-2 burst.
