Myerscough looks to bounce back from its Women’s Elite Academy Basketball League defeat last week when it hosts City of London Academy on Wednesday.

At 2-1 Myerscough currently sits in sixth in the league standings with CoLA in third with a 1-1 mark and a game in hand.

Last outing

Myerscough is coming off a 67-49 defeat to Oaklands with Milly Knowles scoring a team-high 15 points. Jadzea Quinn added 10 in the loss.

CoLA were also on the wrong end of a 66-56 loss to the John Madejski Academy. Maya Hyacienth led CoLA with 19 points — Megan Haines had 17 and Mia Jaye Sarkodee-Adoo added 10.

What to watch

Packing the key

Myerscough will need to dictate the tempo of the game and limit COLA’s chances to run and play in the open floor, and keep them to single possessions in the half-court whilst containing the dribble drive.

Value the possession

With CoLA’s ability to be disruptive in order to get out and run, Myerscough needs to be patient in its half-court offence and take time to create opportunities. Sco is currently averaging 32.3 turnovers and teams are converting those into 21.3 points per game — an area the players are aware of.

“It’s important to take advantage of every possession to get the most from every play,” said Myerscough forward Knowles. “When a team is very disruptive on defence, it’s key to make sure that the team looks after the ball, as causing turnovers or steals gives the other team energy.”

Game notes

Tip-off is schedule for 3 p.m., but will follow the conclusion of the men’s game beforehand.
