The Myerscough Under-18 Women and Division Four teams headed into the half-term break on the back of defeats.

NEWCASTLE — Jess McGrath scored 13 points and Larissa Herriman added 12, but it wasn’t enough as Myerscough was defeated 68-41 by the Newcastle Eagles on Saturday.

“We didn’t communicate well enough on defence today and allowed easy baskets, which is what lost us the game,” said Myerscough guard Herriman.

Newcastle went on a 13-2 run to start the second quarter and never relinquished its lead. An 8-2 burst in the the third killed off any glimmer of a comeback.

“We would have been more competitive had we had the consistency to commit to our game plan,” said Myerscough coach Barney Blake. “We have to start doing the right thing the first time and every time.”

Orioema Chukwu-Etu led the Eagles with a game-high 25 points in the win.

MANCHESTER — Harrison Bell had 16 points and Daniel Chima finished with 15 for Myerscough in a 59-54 loss to the Manchester Magic II on Sunday evening.

Scott Hamilton added 13 in the loss for Myerscough — its second straight after seeing a four game win streak end to Calderdale on Feb. 4.

Myerscough trailed 47-44 before Manchester outlasted the visitors 12-10 over the final nine minutes

Kyle Elly had a game-high 18 points for the Magic in the win.
