Four players from Myerscough College have been selected amongst the best basketball players of their generation and will be taking part in a one-day showcase of
British basketball designed to inspire and assist a new generation of players.
Continuing to build upon its inaugural year in 2014, the Hoopsfix All Star Classic, is a showcase of the top British junior basketball talent in the country, featuring an Under-19 and Under-17 game.
Kyle Carey, Alex Roberts and George Darling feature in the Under-19 game, while Zion Tordoff will participate in the preceding Under-17 game.
The quartet will join the rest of Britain’s best on the court at Brixton Recreation Centre in South London, on Sunday, June 5th, to celebrate the talent that exists in the county and give something back to the sport that has positively influenced so many people’s lives.
The event has been organised by British basketball website Hoopsfix.com and all proceeds from the day will go towards the Hoopsfix Foundation – a not-for-profit initiative dedicated to helping grow the game of basketball in the UK which funds the event.
Myerscough are thrilled that four of their players have been invited to take part in such an important event and hope the club’s fans will support them there too.
Carey said: “I’m very grateful to be part of the Hoopsfix All-Star Classic another year and I’m looking forward to playing the best competition in the country.”
Tordoff added: “It’s an honour to be selected for such a great event and play in front of a large crowd.”
A community coaching session will take place in conjunction with the event, which will see youth players from London being put through their paces on the show court in the morning.
Sam Neter, owner of Hoopsfix.com, added: “We’re looking forward to returning to Brixton for our third year. “Each event we have been impressed with the level of talent on the floor, and we expect it to be no different this year. Pretty much every player suiting up is of junior international standard and will be amongst those at the forefront of British basketball national teams for years to come. “To see them before they have fully developed and all playing at the same time will provide a unique glimpse into the future stars of the UK.”
Limited tickets, which are expected to sell out quickly, are available online at hoopsfixallstarclassic.com, and will not be available on the door.

Hoopsfix.com was officially launched January 1st 2010 by former player Sam Neter to provide media coverage to a sport that has traditionally struggled to get publicity in a country dominated by football, rugby and cricket. In the five years it has existed, its traffic has grown to 30,000 unique visitors a month, with over 10,000 subscribers across all platforms and has had articles or videos featured online at ESPN (TV broadcast as well), BBC South East (TV), Sports Illustrated, SLAM Online, Dime Magazine, World Star Hip Hop and in the Wall Street Journal.
Hoopsfix has become the number one authority online for British basketball, followed by not only British basketball fans and players but a number of other international basketball websites and writers. With a focus on, but not limited to, British basketball prospects, you will find daily news, video, article, interview and feature updates, giving UK hoops junkies a daily fix of British basketball.
The Hoopsfix All Star Classic was founded in 2014, taking place at Brunel University with an Under-26 and an Under-16 game, selling out 3 weeks in advance and instantly cementing itself as one of the marquee events in the British basketball calendar. In its second year, the Classic moved to Brixton Recreation Centre and took on the current format with an Under-19 and Under-17 game, and once again sold out in advance. Fourteen of the 22 players in the Under-19 game have since gone on to achieve a scholarship to play basketball in the USA.
