Myerscough wins EYBL Stage II with unbeaten record

RIGA, Latvia – Franklin Agu scored a season-best and tied for a game-high with 16 points, and Myerscough overcame BC London Elite 54-47 to win Stage II of the European Youth Basketball League with an unbeaten record on Sunday morning.

Mikey Irvine, who had 11 points, knocked down a 3-pointer with 2:01 left to give Myerscough (9-1, 5-0) a 50-41 lead. London would then get within three before Sco scored the final four points.

Myerscough took advantage of its size, outscoring London 30-8 in the paint and by a 38-29 margin on the glass. Agu pulled in five boards and Martell Elly and Amari Williams each had seven.

London led 29-24 at halftime, but Myerscough used a 12-0 run to start the third quarter to push ahead 36-29. Sco outscored their British counterpart 30-18 in the second half and took the lead with Irvine’s layup at the 5:06 mark.

Kevinas Kolesnikovas hit a trio of 3-pointers en route to 16 points for London (2-8, 1-4). Matthew Disu chipped in 12.
