Myerscough hosted a Rising Hoopers 3×3 tournament on Wednesday afternoon, featuring 3 local high schools. Students from St Cecilia, Archbishop Temple and All Hallows all competed in the inaugural event with Archbishop coming out on top.
Games were officiated by our academy students who have been delivering coaching in the schools. Gameplay was fast paced, intense and there was plenty of skill on show. Children showcased what they have learned in their lessons on court. There wasn’t too much to separate all the teams, the top 2 teams finished with the same number of points and had to have a playoff final to determine 1st and 2nd. 3rd place All Hallows were only 2 points off the top while 4th St Cecilia’s 2 missed out on medals by 2 points.
So then, to the final, St Cecilia’s 1 v Archbishop 1 both teams had only lost one game each going into the final. Both teams were pumped up to fight for the gold. An early lead was taken by Archbishop but through some crafty moves, St Cecilia’s battled back to 2-2. Tied going into the last-minute, Archbishops size would prove to much for St Cecilia’s as they would score two late baskets to seal the victory and win 4-2.
Well done to all the children involved, you all represented your schools brilliantly and we look forward to the next one.
