Preston, England – Myerscough’s NBL Division 2 Men’s team punched its ticket into the next round of the Men’s National Cup with a comfortable win over newly promoted Worcester Wolves, 76-61.
Myerscough showed their intent from the opening exchanges and the theme continued throughout the first quarter as Worcester struggled to get anything going at the rim. Consecutive stops combined with a trio of three pointers saw the hosts build an early 22-11 lead.
Denilson Caschili hit a three to start the quarter and Stephen Asante added one to end the first half as Myerscough continued to open the gap in the second quarter. Defense was turned into offense and the lead stretched to 39-25.
Worcester would cut the deficit as close as 9 points on a couple of occasions in the second half, but Myerscough would always have an answer as a very disciplined performance enabled them to keep control and seal the victory.
Peter and Stephen Asante led the charge for Myerscough with 23 and 19 points respectively whereas Denilson Caschili continued his good form with another 17 points including five three pointers.
Lucas McGregor led Worcester with 21 points whilst Jacob Solvason provided 14 points off the bench.
Myerscough now looks ahead to an away trip to Bristol Flyers when they return to league action next weekend whereas Worcester Wolves also head to Bristol to face the Hurricanes.
