Cheetham leads Myerscough to WEABL win

PRESTON, Lancs. — Emma Cheetham scored a game-high 19 points to help Myerscough make a strong start to the WEABL season on Wednesday.

Jadzea Quinn and Milly Knowles combined for 18 points whilst Shauna Harrison added 12 in a lopsided 70-23 over Loreto College at Myerscough’s High Performance Centre.

Myerscough, which led from start to finish, held a 39-8 halftime advantage before holding Loreto to just 15 points after the break.

“We had some specifics that we wanted to get better at in this game and I think we made massive strides forward in those areas,” said Myerscough head coach Julie Page. “Our first years are shaping up well, too, and I’m extremely proud of all the girls’ dedication to our long-term goals.”

Chloe Andrew led Loreto with seven points and Silvia Okuonghae had six.

Myerscough visits Charnwood College on November 8 for its final WEABL game in the opening round.
