PRESTON – Sanmi Fajana had 17 points to lead four in double-figures scoring and Myerscough defeated Sheffield 88-64 to open the Division 2 season.
Amari Williams and Franklin Agu each scored 14 points and Great Osobor added 10 for Myerscough.
Myerscough, which trailed 14-8, overturned its deficit with a 17-0 run to take a 25-14 lead — one that it wouldn’t relinquish. Fajana scored eight of his points during the four-minute stretch where he went 6-of-6 at the free throw line.
“It wasn’t pretty today,” said Myerscough head coach Neal Hopkins. “The game was very fragmented and we didn’t establish any kind of rhythm — despite this I was impressed with Great [Osobor] and Shaydon [Eytle] who put it solid shifts but as a unit, we must be better.”
M Mastalerz had a game-high 26 points for the Sharks in the loss. Tom Morey added 13 and Daniel Moulson chipped in 10.
