PRESTON, Lancs. — Konrad Kantorski scored a game-high 30 points and hit eight 3-pointers to lead Myerscough past Derby 84-61 on Wednesday and into the AoC Sport Premier Cup Finals.
Mate Okros had 16 points and Rayon Brown added 15, and the duo knocked down four threes each whilst Myerscough connected on 18 total, which is tied for most this season.
The win propelled the Myerscough Men’s team into a fourth national final that takes place on May 2.
“We’re on the cusp of having what would be the most successful season in our history and these guys have been the ones who have chased that and ultimately deserve everything they’ve achieved,” said Myerscough coach Neal Hopkins.
Brown hit back-to-back threes to blow open a five-point game, as Myerscough then hit seven consecutive shots from range to take a 36-18 lead and never looked back. Kantorski, who scored 21 first-half points, beat the opening quarter buzzer before draining three-straight 3-pointers.
“Konrad can really score with the best of them — we know that,” Hopkins began, “and the fact he’s got other guys around him that can stretch the floor and make the defence work has really allowed him to punish teams.”
Myerscough didn’t score in the opening 3:03 of the game and fell behind 4-0 before going on a 13-0 run, highlighted by a pair of threes from Okros, who recorded eight points in the run.
Jacques Misambu led Derby with 12 points and Charlie Woodyat added nine in the loss.
