PRESTON, Lancs – Myerscough Basketball Academy is excited to welcome Liffey Celtics Basketball Club to the Pure Leisure© High Performance Centre at Myerscough College this weekend for a pre-season training camp.
Liffey, which was founded in 2003 and based in Leixlip, Ireland, will be bringing a total of 22 players including its Under-18 Boys and Girls team, as well as five coaching staff for the three-day visit to Preston.
“We are very grateful and excited to be travelling to Myerscough [Basketball Academy] in preparation for this upcoming season,” said Liffey coach Erin Bracken. “Both our under-18 teams are coming off the back of successful seasons and are looking forward to preparing for National Cup competitions, as well as Dublin League and cup competitions this year.”
The Celtics will arrive Friday morning in Manchester Airport, with games beginning that evening at 6:30 p.m. against the Myerscough Women’s team and a Myerscough Select Men’s team.
Each team will play four games during their stay, which also includes a selection of opponents from the area — Preston Pride, City of Leeds and Manchester Mystics.
The arrival of Liffey comes on the heels of the recent international visit of the Netherlands-based Basketbal Vereniging Groningen to Myerscough.
