Myerscough alum representing RAF and U.K. at SHAPE International Basketball Tournament

PRESTON – Myerscough alumni and RAF Physical Training Instructor, Corporal Marcus Shields is competing with the United Kingdom at the 54th annual SHAPE International Basketball Tournament in Chievres, Belgium, beginning December 1.

“Working in the Armed Forces has allowed me to do the job I love whilst travelling the world to play the sport I love,” said Shields. “This is just an example of the many opportunities that are available within the military.”

Eight teams will compete in the men’s tournament, and six countries will compete in the women’s tournament. The men’s teams are from Belgium, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, The Netherlands, SHAPE, and United Kingdom. Female teams are from Belgium, France, Latvia, The Netherlands, SHAPE, and United Kingdom.

The United Kingdom opens the tournament, which runs through December 7, against SHAPE on Sunday.
