PRESTON – Myerscough alumni and College of Central Florida sophomore Edoardo Del Cadia (Class of 2018), who has become an elite junior college prospect, turned in back-to-back double-double performances last week — his seventh and eighth of his collegiate career.
Del Cadia set season-highs of 16 points and 15 rebounds in wins over Indian River State College and Miami Dade College, respectively. The Patriots swept all three games, extended their winning streak to six and improved to 9-2 overall in the process.
The Italian came up big with 16 points and 14 rebounds on Friday in an improbable comeback victory over Indian River — the Patriots overturned a nine-point deficit with under a minute left. He then had 12 points and 15 rebounds against Miami Dade.
Eckerd College split its two games and sits at 4-3 on the season. Kiko Stavrev (Class of 2015), who reached double-figures scoring for a third time, hit 3-of-4 3-pointers on his way to 11 points in the win over Francis Marion. He is currently averaging 8.7 points and has started all seven games.
