PRESTON, Lancs. — David Walsh scored a game-high 23 points in a 75-51 win over WLV Albion, as Myerscough celebrated claiming the Division 3 North regular season title on Saturday.

“Our number one goal and objective at the beginning of the season was to try and win this division,” said Myerscough coach Neal Hopkins. “We took a big gamble in our approach this year and these guys delivered week in and week out.”

Myerscough, which improved to 15-1 in league play, has two games remaining against second-placed Loughborough II and Birmingham Mets. Sco wrapped up the regular season crown with the Manchester Giants II’s forfeit two weeks ago, but celebrated the achievement on Saturday.

The hosts jumped out to an 11-0 lead against WLV Albion, hit five 3-pointers in the opening quarter and never looked back — something Myerscough has done all season en route to the league’s highest scorest offence.

Saturday was also the eighth time in league play where Myerscough, who also owns the best defence, has held an opponent to under 60 points. S. Davies led WLV Albion with 15 and R. Josephs added 14, but was limited elsewhere.

“We want to inspire a winning culture [at Myerscough] and we’ve delivered that,” said Neal Hopkins. “The guys showed throughout the year that they wanted to win and they’ve made a massive statement.”
