Myerscough reaches Division 3 Finals behind Kantorski and Okros
PRESTON, Lancs. — Konrad Kantorski scored 23 points and Mate Okros added 21, and Myerscough beat Northants 88-78 on Saturday to advance to the Division 3 Playoff Finals.
Rayon Brown finished with 14 points and hit back-to-back 3-pointers late in the fourth quarter to help propel Myerscough into a second National Final this season where it will face a rematch against East London All Stars on Apr. 28 in Manchester.
Trailing by seven points Myerscough used an 11-0 second quarter run — highlighted by 3-pointers from Brown and Kantorski — to take a 43-39 lead, which it wouldn’t relinquish.
Myerscough then started the second half on a 18-5 burst to extend a two-point halftime lead to 68-53. The hosts outscored Northants 23-10 in the quarter and never let the gap get closer than six
Northants saw its momentum from an 8-2 run in the fourth quarter halted by a pair of 3-pointers from Brown, who finished with three of Myerscough’s 10 triples in the game.
A. Snapaitis and A. Maziliauskas each had 19 points in the loss for Northants. V. Obrikas and E. Aleksa combined for 27.
McGlasson hits six threes in playoff rout over QE York
PRESTON — Lewis McGlasson hit 6-of-10 3-pointers en route to a game-high 24 points, as Myerscough reached the Under-18 Men’s Elite 8 on Saturday.
Myerscough will host the Reading Rockets at the High Performance Centre on Apr. 21 at 1 p.m.
Jamie Gray had 16 points to go with 10 rebounds and Mate Okros scored all 13 of his points in the first half for Myerscough, which took 91 shots in the game and converted 34.1 percent.
Myerscough used a 20-0 run to erase a 21-16 deficit and never looked back and poured in 32 points in the second quarter alone. McGlasson, who knocked down five threes in the first half, lifted Myerscough to a 44-27 lead at the break.
Jayden Martin had 18 points to go with nine rebounds and Joseph Barrett added a double-double (12 points & 10 rebounds) for QE York in the loss.
