Myerscough fall to resilient SGS

PRESTON, England – Myerscough College were unable to build on their convincing opening week win as they fell 77-84 to the South-West based SGS College.

Myerscough would open the score for the day before SGS found their shooting touch from the perimeter and a barrage of threes forced the hosts into an early timeout. The pressure continued to mount as SGS maintained the hot hand and Myerscough would find themselves behind 19-26 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter continued in similar fashion as SGS established its first 20-point lead of the game and held a 10-point lead at halftime.

Myerscough continued to battle in the second half and their 26 points off 22 SGS turnovers would see them claw all the back to a 4-point deficit with just under two minutes remaining but they were unable to close the gap any further as turnovers and missed free throws continued to prove a thorn.

Denilson Caschili was in double figures again with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists whilst Emmanuel Yeboah and Taylor Campbell added 10 and 9 points respectively.

Louie Tucker and Jayden Edwards combined for 53 points with Watson chipping in with a further 16 points.

Myerscough’s next game comes next Wednesday 19th October as they travel to Derby Trailblazers Academy who beat BMET Rockets 66-78 on the road this week. SGS College will host the Manchester Magic Academy who overcame their opening week defeat to Myerscough with a comfortable 104-71 dispatch of The Sheffield College.
