Myerscough lose out in OT

Doncaster – Myerscough fell to a heart breaking over-time defeat against Doncaster Eagles 98 – 94 in the first game back after the Christmas break on Saturday.

Box Score

BBL Veteran Rob Marsden proved to be the difference as the forward finished with 35 points for the Eagles in a back-and-forth fixture. Myerscough rallied back from a slow second quarter to lead by as many as 9 with 5 minutes left in regulation only to see a final possession shot fall agonisingly close.

Back to back threes from the home side at the beginning of over-time gave Doncaster the cushion to see out the game and take the victory.

“I was really happy with the guys physical effort” Said Myerscough Head Coach Neal Hopkins “But ultimately we lost to the experience of Doncaster, we really have to improve our game management and general maturity to be able to win games like this, the loss certainly hurts, however there are a number of lessons to take away”.

Bryan Akanmu led with 18 for Myerscough, with Ridley Shema scoring 17 points in the loss.

Myerscough will now to a rare home fixture vs Derbyshire Arrows on Sunday 16th (2:30pm tip off)
