PRESTON, Lancs. — Myerscough is sending a quartet of players to the 2018 HoopsFix All-Star Classic, a one-day showcase of Britain’s best, which takes place on June 2 at Brixton Recreation Centre.
Mate Okros, Callan Low and Jamie Gray were all selected for the HoopsFix All-Star Classic Underclassmen Game whilst Konrad Kantorski was picked for the Class of 2018 Game.
The Underclassmen Game featuring Class of 2019 or younger players tips off on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the graduating seniors directly following the conclusion of the first game.
Kantorski joins former Myerscough players Kyle Carey, George Darling, Alex Roberts as those to participate in the Under-19 game.
The HoopsFix All-Star Classic returns after a year hiatus and is organised by British Basketball website Hoopsfix.com, as all proceeds go towards the HoopsFix Foundation — a not-for-profit initiative dedicated to helping grow the game of basketball in the UK, which funds the event.
Callan Low on being selected for the All-Star Classic: “I feel extremely privileged to have been selected and considered one of the best Under-18 players in the country. It shows the hard work I’ve put in throughout the season has been recognised and I’m honoured.
“I really appreciate the support we have had from the coaching staff throughout the season and this has enabled me to elevate my game to a new level. I’m looking forward to the experience of playing against the top players in the country and feel I can learn a lot from it.”
Jamie Gray on being selected for the All-Star Classic: “I’m privileged to have been provided with such a great opportunity to play with the top athletes in the country — I feel I will gain lots of experience from playing with such highly skilled players.”
Mate Okros on being selection for the All-Star Classic: “It’s a great achievement to have been selected [for the All-Star Game] and being recognised throughout the season as being one of top players at my age.
“Playing against the best players in the UK at my age is an experience in itself. I will take away what it will take to elevate my game to the next level by seeing the skills of the others players.”
