PRESTON, England – Shakeil Shabbir had a season and game-high 21 points as Myerscough powered past Manchester 94-52 to open the 2022-23 EABL season.
Euan Birch hit a three-pointer off the opening possession and Myerscough never looked back as they started their journey back to the EABL Finals in convincing fashion.
Manchester was held to 6 points across the opening 6 minutes, when Denilson Caschili hit Myerscough’s third three-pointer in a row and fifth of the quarter as the hosts opened a commanding 29-6 advantage.
Both teams traded blows for the remainder of the first half which saw Myerscough lead 51-28 at the break.
The hosts continued to find their perimeter range in the second half as Peter Asante and Shakeil Shabbir both joined Caschili in connecting from deep. This combined with a flurry of transition scores saw the lead continue to grow until the final whistle.
Euan Birch supported with 12 points and Emmanuel Yeboah and Denilson Caschili both added 11 points.
Ben Brown scored 14 points to lead Manchester. Luca Lara-Sanchez added 12.
