Myerscough shines on a wet day in Yorkshire

Sheffield, England – Myerscough College claimed its 4th win of the EABL regular season as it dispatched Sheffield College 75-54. The win sees the Preston-based academy improve to 4-1 for the season whilst Sheffield drops to its third consecutive defeat.

Noah Saa would hit back-back three pointers to start the scoring for the home side, but Myerscough would respond with a run of their own as defensive stops were turned into easy scores in transition forcing a Sheffield time-out. Caschili would hit a step-back three on the next possession as Myerscough maintained their pace for the remainder of the quarter and opened a 27-14 lead.

Myerscough would struggle offensively through the first half of the second quarter and Sheffield held the better of the exchanges. Coach Culley used a time-out to regroup, and Myerscough through Caschili and the Asante twins rattled off a further 15 points to hold a 46-34 halftime lead.

Despite cooling off from the fast-paced display in the opening quarter, Myerscough would hold Sheffield to just 20 points in the second half and lead by as many as 25 points to run out comfortable winners in the clash between Lancashire and Yorkshire.

Denilson Caschili led the way for Myerscough with 22 points including four 3-pointers. Peter and Stephen Asante both contributed a further 13 points each whilst Dayvantia Campbell-Deeble made his mark around the basket with a further 11 points.

Declan Kom was the only Sheffield player to reach double figures with 23 points whilst Noah Saa added 8 points, all coming in the first half.

Myerscough returns home next week to face Charnwood College on Wednesday 23rd November, 3pm tip-off whereas The Sheffield College travel away to SGS College.
