Myerscough snaps Charnwood’s unbeaten run

Charnwood, England – Myerscough College overturned an early season loss and snapped Charnwood College’s unbeaten season record with a convincing road win on Wednesday afternoon, 80-66.

There was not much to separate both teams in an explosive first quarter as both teams were displaying why they were ranked as they are at this point with Dayvantia Campbell-Deeble leading the way for Myerscough with 8 of his teams 17 points.

Myerscough would lock in defensively either side of half-time to outscore Charnwood 43-26 as they started to assert themselves in the game. Euan Birch, Denilson Caschili and Stephen all connected on consecutive three pointers as the game opened.

A 10-0 run capped by another three-pointer from Caschili to start the fourth quarter gave Myerscough their largest lead of the game at 21 points and despite a late burst from the home side, the damage was already done.

Myerscough shot 48.5% from the field, connected on 9 three pointers (39.1%) and outrebounded their opponents on their way to a strong road win.

Dayvantia Campbell-Deeble showed his strength inside and powered Myerscough with a 23-point, 12-rebound double-double performance. Euan Birch and Denilson Caschili had 14 and 13 points respectively whilst Stephen Asante added 12 of his own.

Lamarana Diallo led Charnwood with 14 points. Edward Oniya and Dan Hadley contributed support with 13 each.

Myerscough (10-2) takes to the road after half-term to face Manchester Magic Academy (7-4). Charnwood College (8-1) have a busy week ahead where they face Derby Trailblazers (7-5), SGS College (7-4) and Manchester Magic Academy (7-4).
