Myerscough tips off its participation today in the 2017 Haris Memorial Tournament which runs Dec. 27-29 at the Amaechi Centre in Manchester.
The Preston-based college opens up Pool A play against the Manchester Magic Under-18 Men at 6 p.m. on Wednesday before facing CB Nova School (Spain) and Elite Academy Antwerp (Belgium) the following day.
The Haris Memorial Tournament has taken place at the end of the year annually since 2006, and is held in remembrance of Haris Charalambous, who was part of the Magic’s junior programme before his sudden death whilst practicing at Toledo University.
“It’s a real honour to be playing at the Haris Tournament,” said Myerscough head coach Neal Hopkins. “We were very grateful for the invite and are going in with a changed roster so it will be a real opportunity for others to step up and make their mark.
“We aim to be as competitive as possible and I’m sure we will enjoy what promises to be a great occasion.”
This year’s edition marks the first time Myerscough has participated in the tournament, which will hold placement games on Friday, Dec. 29, with the semifinals taking place at noon followed by the finals at 5:30 p.m.
The England National Team, Charnwood College, the Magic Under-16s and Værløse Basketball Club (Denmark) will compete in Pool B.
Myerscough roster: Demi Adenuga, Harrison Bell, Rayon Brown, Tyrell Brown, Daniel Chima, Tim Collier, Martell Elly, Jamie, Gray, Aaron Martin, Keagan Marsh, Lewis McGlasson, Alex Roberts
