PRESTON — Myerscough claimed its first win of the WEABL season with a 48-43 win over Charnwood on Wednesday.
Milly Knowles had a game-high 19 points, leading a trio of Myerscough scorers in double-figures. Kyra Smith finished with 11 and Shauna Harrison chipped in 11.
Myerscough (1-1) and Charnwood (1-1) battled to what would appear to be a 22-all halftime scoreline, but Imogen Cook was found with a long inbounds pass and she beat the buzzer to give the Student Riders a 24-22 lead.
Rhiannon Watkins lifted Charnwood to its largest second half lead at 32-26 — Myerscough, however, rallied around an 8-2 run to carry a tie game into the fourth.
The lead then exchanged hands three times with Charnwood eventually edging into a 41-38 advantage, though Myerscough would score the final nine points of the game.
Megan Jones led Charnwood with 11 points in the loss.
