Callan Low and Lewis McGlasson had standout performances for Myerscough, as the Under-18 Men maintained their position at the top of the Premier North.


Myerscough Under-18 Men top Derby 85-68

PRESTON — Callan Low scored 24 points and Lewis McGlasson added 20 to help the Myerscough Under-18 Men claim its 12th consecutive win, topping Derby College 85-68 on Saturday.

McGlasson hit 5-of-8 3-point attempts as Myerscough finished 37.9 percent from distance. Sco shot 40.5 percent for the game and had 10 different scorers.

Myerscough led for 34 minutes in a game with 10 lead changes and four ties, though Derby was never able to hold an advantage larger than two points.

Myerscough overcame 22 turnovers of its own — Derby only got 11 points of miscues — whilst the hosts punished the Trailblazers for 25 points off 25 mistakes.

Myerscough, which led by six at halftime, built a double-digit advantage by the end of the third quarter before Derby closed within 68-63 with 5:56 remaining. A 5-1 run over a two-minute stretched wrapped up the win.

Ethan Roberts had 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting to go with nine rebounds for the Trailblazers. Luke Plak and Tyler Mutemasango combined for 25 points in the loss.

Myerscough falters against Division 4 leaders Calderdale

PRESTON — Myerscough let slip a 20-point advantage against undefeated Calderdale in a 71-65 loss on Sunday.

Travis Edwards finished with 21 points to lead Myerscough and Radostin Papazov added 15 in the loss.

Myerscough, which led by 15 at the break, started to come unravelled during a 9-0 Calderdale run. Edwards looked to have stopped the skid with a 3-pointer to beat the third quarter buzzer, but the Explorers scored five unanswered to begin the last stanza.

Calderdale knotted the game at 58-all following a 3-point play with 3:48 left — the Explorers broke the deadlock to take 62-59 lead and the damage was done as Myerscough couldn’t recover.

R Donaldson had a game-high 26 points for league leaders Calderdale. N Akins added 18.


Myerscough Under-18 Women stifled late at Charnwood

LOUGHBOROUGH — Milly Knowles and Shauna Harrison had 15 points apiece for the Myerscough Under-18 Women in a 55-44 defeat to the Charnwood Riders on Sunday.

Rhiannon Watkins led Charnwood with 13 points and Imogen Cook had 12 in the win.

Myerscough trailed 28-24 at the break before being outscored 16-13 in the third quarter. Sco then managed just seven points in the fourth, as Charnwood closed the game out.
