OAKLANDS, St Albans — Myerscough suffered a 69-52 win at Oaklands College in the Women’s Elite Academy Basketball League on Wednesday.
Milly Knowles led Myerscough with 15 points and Shauna Harrison added 11 in the loss (1-2).
“We made a slow start to the game against a tough opposition and we were unable to regroup even after picking up in the second half,” said Myerscough guard Harrison.
Oaklands jumped out to a 17-5 lead behind Nagy and Freeman, but Myerscough was able to cut into double-digit deficit and close the gap to eight at halftime.
Myerscough kept within striking distance, though a 14-0 run from Oaklands to start the fourth quarter pushed the game out of range.
“We have to learn how to stay focused to perform at our best in these tough road games, especially when our opposition has a killer instict,” said Myerscough coach Julie Page.
Krisztina Nagy had a game-high 24 points for Oaklands. Tia Freeman scored 17 and Kata Fulop had 10.
