PRESTON – Myerscough guard Louis Sullivan has been selected to represent Great Britain at the FIBA 3×3 U18 Europe Cup Qualifier, which runs August 3-4 in Rieti, Italy.
Great Britain, led by head coach Gareth Murray, opens up its Pool B campaign against the Netherlands before facing Serbia and Spain.
“To be selected to represent Great Britain means I get an opportunity to showcase my talent and skills in a competitive environment,” said Sullivan. “I’m really grateful to be given the chance to go and compete.”
Sullivan played 21 times for the Myerscough Under-18 Men’s team, which won the Premier North Division with an unbeaten record before claiming the National Championship in May. He averaged 9.0 points to go with 5.8 rebounds across the 2018-19 season.
“My game translates into 3-on-3 as I love taking a defender on and trying to beat them,” he said. “I enjoy that there’s more space on the floor, which gives allows more time to be creative.”
Paul Ferrelly (Swansea Storm), Panagiotis Karras (Cardiff Met Archers) and Owen Mackle (City of Edinburgh) round on the Great Britain squad.
“Opportunities like this are perfect for gaining experience and opening their eyes to the level of talent around the world,” Murray told GB Basketball. “I hope this experience will help them with their future aspirations and fulfil their respective goals.”
